Still one of my all-time favorites. I consider it my civic duty to force as many people as possible to watch it. In fact, I think I’ll be doing that yet again this weekend.

I have to say, the production values just keep getting better and better.
Having said this, I also have to say, my gaming group’s quotes are still limited to Gamers (the first movie) and Holy Grail.
It’s a marvelous movie and I really appreciate how you portray gamers in a positive light. But, I miss the “quotability” of the first movie. Any chance your next movie (please say there will be more) will have both?

Definitely. I think a lot of people would disagree with you about Dorkness Rising though. I, however, will remain blissfully neutral on the matter. 🙂

Oh this movie has plenty of “quotability”. I showed it to the guys and gals in my game, and we haven’t been able to stop quoting it since, both in and out of game 🙂

It is almost impossible to briefly state my own perspective on this truly fantastic and enjoyable film. I am, of course attempting to put into few words what does not easily go into many.
The movie had heart, moments of introspection and a lot of humor that I, a person of more than three decades RPG experience have lived and died (on paper!)
I have watched this movie a dozen times in the last few weeks, enjoying it each time. My gaming group has gotten into it as well, laughing not only at the material presented, but in a good-hearted way at ourselves.
We played AD&D last night, in the way of an homage to the time passed and the rekindled reminder of all that is gaming, feelings of youthful joy brought on by this excellent film. And in true gamer fashion, the party proceeded to start a bar brawl while the halfling cleric was upstairs with the large women.
From a theatrical critique perspective, I found the movie to be very, very honest and well constructed. The flash that others seem to think makes a movie was not there and didn’t need to be.
The acting was solid, the editing and pacing good and the overall look outstanding. The music was there in good form and was even amazing in moments. The material, brought to life by the actors, was the focus of the film. No cheap thrills were required.
The movie seemed to be made to the premise that the story is what is important, that story decisions are the best kind, much like the actions of one of the player-characters.
You did good DG, you get waffles!

A friend told me about this and I put it up on my netflix instant queue and couldnt stop laughing once i started watching it. Promptly ordered it on DVD and have watched it at least once a week since. Just hope you guys (DG) will be able to release the soundtrack for download/purchase or whatever soon 🙂

Actually, that’s a good point. Is there going to be a soundtrack released? The compilation during the ending credits I quite enjoyed, including the various quotes from the various players. I wouldn’t mind downloading or purchasing an official version of that (I think it needs to be a little cleaned up). Is there plans for that?
I quite agree. This was a really funny movie, IMHO, far better than the first, and would look forward to a third!
